VISITING PROFESSORSHIP

May 22-23, 2003 - Juanita L. Merchant, M.D., Ph.D.

Juanita L. Merchant, M.D., Ph.D., Professor of Internal Medicine at the University of Michigan, was the first Visiting Professor for the Department of Medicine Diversity Council. Dr. Merchant, who earned both her medical and doctoral degrees from Yale, is a noted researcher who has won numerous scientific awards for her study of the mechanisms that control normal and cancerous cell growth in the gastrointestinal tract.
