MENTORING NETWORK

  • The mentoring groups consist of minority medical student, resident, post-doctoral fellow, and faculty member. The mentoring group meet as a whole 3-4 times/year in an informal setting (i. e., over lunch or dinner, coordinated by the faculty member).

  • Several times per year, the mentor will meet individually with the mentee to review evaluations/ grades and to provide career guidance and planning

  • A seminar series is provided which covers important issues such as:
    • Career Track / Promotion
      • Clinical
      • Research
    • Publishing
    • Grantsmanship ("Getting Funded") / Choosing a Mentor
    • Balancing Research / Clinical / Teaching Responsibilities (Time Management)
